Dr Thusintha Selvaratnam

After completing my pre-university education at the National Organisation for Development of Exceptional Talents (NODET) in Iran, I earned my medical degree from Iran University of Medical Sciences (2009–2016). I began working as a General Practitioner at SALAMAT Clinic, caring for patients across all age groups and a wide range of conditions. To further develop my clinical skills, I undertook over three years of rotations in the Emergency Department of a specialised heart hospital, gaining extensive experience in managing acute cardiac emergencies and chronic cardiovascular disease. I also worked as a cosmetic GP, where I developed strong knowledge in dermatology, aesthetic procedures, and skin health.

I am fluent in Persian, Turkish, and Azeri, and have studied French to better serve Francophone patients. I believe effective communication is key to building trust and rapport in a multicultural setting. In my personal time, I enjoy jogging, fitness training, and cooking. With a strong interest in paediatrics and recognising the need for child health services in Australia, I am keen to pursue a Diploma in Child Health as a first step toward specialising in paediatric medicine.
